Fit
Almost every return we could receive is a fit that was guessed at. Measure once, write the numbers down, and you will never have to guess again — here or anywhere else. Nothing below needs anything you do not already own.
Around the fullest part of the chest, tape level all the way round and flat across the back. Wear the bra you would wear with the piece — a padded one can move this figure by a full size.
The narrowest part of the torso, usually an inch or so above the navel. Bend sideways and the crease that forms is the line you want. Breathe out normally; do not hold it in.
Around the fullest part of the seat with your feet together, roughly eight inches below the waist. This is the measurement that decides whether a lehenga skirt or a fitted kurta sits or strains.
Across the back, from the bony point of one shoulder to the other. Easier with someone else holding the tape. A shoulder seam in the wrong place is the one fault a tailor cannot hide.
From the shoulder seam straight down to where you want the hem to finish. Measure against a garment you already love rather than against yourself — it is far more reliable.
Body measurements, not garment measurements
| Size | Bust (in) | Waist (in) | Hip (in) | Shoulder (in) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 32 | 26 | 35 | 13.5 |
| S | 34 | 28 | 37 | 14 |
| M | 36 | 30 | 39 | 14.5 |
| L | 38 | 32 | 41 | 15 |
| XL | 40 | 34 | 43 | 15.5 |
| XXL | 42 | 36 | 45 | 16 |
Find the row your measurements fall closest to. These are the measurements of a body, not of the cloth — every piece is cut with the ease its shape needs, so a flowing anarkali and a fitted blouse in the same size will not measure the same flat on a table.
The reliable way: take a ring that already fits that finger, lay it on a ruler and measure the inside diameter in millimetres. Failing that, wrap a strip of paper round the finger, mark where it meets, and measure the length — that is the circumference.
Send us either number and we will cut to it. We would rather convert one measurement for you than have you order a size from a chart that was written for someone else’s mandrel.
Measure at the end of the day, when hands are at their largest, and go up a fraction for a band wider than about 6 mm — a broad band always wears tighter than a thin one of the same size.
Indian bangle sizes are simply the inside diameter in inches. To find yours, tuck your thumb into your palm as if you were sliding a bangle on, measure round the widest part of that closed hand, and match the circumference below.
Between two sizes, take the larger. A bangle has to pass the knuckle of the thumb before it can sit on the wrist.
Every listing gives its exact length, and the names describe where a chain falls on an average frame:
To see a length before you buy it, cut a piece of string to that measurement, tie it and hang it round your neck. It takes a minute and it is never wrong.
Earrings and most pendants have no size — only a drop, which is on the listing.
Still between sizes
The pieces are cut in small runs by the same hands either way, so making one to your numbers is a question of time rather than of possibility. Send the measurements you took above and tell us when you need it.
